|8th - At the home patch Vamos - Left: one of the
common but nicely marked grasshoppers sp.
Birds added to the local patch list: Black Redstart, Song Thrush, Serin, Stonechat, Whinchat, Buzzard plus a flock of 25 Starlings flew over.
|9th - On the road from Kalives heading west, we turned inland on the road to Stylos and stopped at the small church on the left. One of my special wildlife interests is dragonflies and we were in luck here as the nearby stream banks had been cleared for irrigation work: see photo on right.|
On the ridge towards Kalives an Eleonora's Falcon jousted with a Buzzard.
|This of course allowed easy access and I was
pleased to find a good number of dragonflies of several species:
Left: A mating pair of Migrant Hawker dragonflies (male top of
photo). Below: a recently mated female Migrant Hawker, viewed
from above, contrasting with side view.
|Later we drove up to Kafes, where I took this photo of a Black Redstart (female!).|
