Griffons 11-01-05
 
   
Spent several hours in and around the Petres Gorge watching up to 10 Griffon Vultures Gyps fulvus. Took a lot of photos but missed the best shots! First when they sneaked up behind us, without us noticing and again when I had to change camera batteries.

Right: Photographed here with a pair of ravens, which although bigger than buzzards are dwarfed by the vultures. Griffon Vultures can have a wingspan of over 8ft/2.6m.
