Lake Kournas x 2
20th November 2004. This was a short afternoon visit.

Two Ferruginous Duck, swim through a flock of Coot

Terrapins sp. (Striped Terrapin?) ("You had the whole lake to park")

Managed to photograph this Water Rail, usually a rather secretive species, more at home in reedbeds etc. Red-veined Darter Dragonfly (male). Males of this species were holding territories spaced along the lake shoreline.

27th November 2004.

Great views of this pale phase Booted Eagle as it suddenly appeared above the bushes, which surround some of the lake edge, where it had presumably been perched. Managed to get this parting shot.

Willow Emerald Damselfly

Approximately fifty Black-necked Grebe now present. They were in a tight flock (see above), diving for food almost simultaneously. Pochard numbers had increased to approx 30 birds.
